Most likely the longest post I have done. Most likely the most beautiful.
David and I have been saying that we will go to Hawaii for a belated 'honeymoon'....for three years now. So, in late October we just said there's no better time than the present. Laying in bed one night we just booked the ticket.....Maui here we come!
of course the days leading up to Christmas break with teaching are filled with 34 +projects, 2 benchmark tests, regular lessons and 5 students that went out with the stomach flu (one stomach 'fluing' in the classroom). Low and behold...they passed that lovely thing to me for the first day and a half of our trip. FYI you can still get the flu in paradise. (Thought that was a no, no ;)
Sun. Waves. (crackers and gatorade=/)
Thankfully the Lord blessed me with recovering quickly and I was able to enjoy the paradise we worked so hard to get to. Maui sunsets are amazing and I tell you the sun must have healing powers! Our trip was out of this world and I would go back to Maui anytime I could.
LOVE
Day 1: Our helicopter ride through the rain forests. This was one of David's favorites! (I was still a bit sick at this point but still managed to take some pics, until David had to take over. )
Day 2: Our hotel, Grand Wailea
Everything was open to the outside. Absolutely beautiful.
Chubby Bump statues made my heart smile!
The smell of fresh flowers walking through the hotel gardens was to die for.
and this. well this, is the chapel on the hotel property with the ocean view in the background. and this. this is where David and I may renew our vows ;). YEAR 5. save the date ;) I am a bit in love, with him and this place! jk...I do want to renew vows at some point, where and when will come later, but Maui is for sure on the where list!
The hibiscus pool. Adult quite pool which we went to once....most of our attention was focused on the 'kids' pool.....OH MY GOSH the FUN!!!!!
The spa was out of this world!!!! The hawaiian pools where 5 baths (all different temps) with different colored sea salts, which attended to various remedies for your skin. Our couples massage topped it off.
Swim up to bar. This was in one of the caves near the 'kids' pool. The pools here were so fun!!! Different caves to swim through, pools with different temps that had mini slides to take you to all of them without getting out of the water...and ending up in the lazy river which can float you to a swing rope, sand pool, water elevator, or volleyball pool. FUN is an understatement!!!!
Day 3: Jeep ride (top off) to Black Rock, where we rented our own snorkel gear!
This was the pic we got with our underwater camera. The first turtle we saw on the trip was the biggest and best picture we got!
Day 4: Luau
Day 5: Catamaran snorkel to Molokini and Turtle Town.
The waters here were crystal clear!!!! and these blue Hawaiian Major Fish were my buddies and swam in schools near us!
My handsome hub and I!!!!
our hotel lights on the trees were so pretty!
Day 6: Toro macadamia nut pancakes and Road to Hana
Black Sand Beach!
Waterfall Heaven!
Banyan Tree = my LOVE and HAPPINESS of all the green in the world!
Finding Nemo and my inner peace!
BAMBOO!
Note to self....toms do not make good 'hiking through the rainforest in maui while it's raining' shoes. However, they do make for funny falls by Kate and great memories! So to sum up....this is a must do hike!!!
400ft waterfall we hiked the 2 miles to and 2 back.
This was a gorgeous hike, filled with green trails to get lost in and spontaneous pouring rainfall, soaking us from head to toe.
Mama's Fish House....the food, atmosphere and wine selection here was amazing and a perfect meal to end the trip!
David: Pepper crusted Ahi
Kate: Mahi-Mahi stuffed with lobster and crab
in love! my husband, food, waves and wine...perfect perfect!
A hawaiian Christmas
Mele Kalikimaka!
Maui, wowie halelakala to an unforgettable vacation/honeymoon with my best!

I have been coming back to this post a few times on my phone to look at all your awesome pics and take a "mini" vacay back. We have only been home a few days and our missing the lovely temps of Maui. Your trip looked so fun! The turtle picture could be sold in one of those fancy Lahaina galleries. Hopefully one of these days a family trip can happen...the islands are a special place fo sure! Love you.
