Second surgery or not it is always a bit scary going into the O.R....and the possibilities of "what ifs" seem to slowly creep forward. Yet as those 'what ifs' creep God steps in and has me notice the littlest things in life, that become so larger than life and take my breath away (no pun intended =) So leading up to my day of surgery these were the moments of life, love and happiness in the simple things of what matter most.
the smell of orange groves....
a sun kissed baby girl....
hand written letters to a friend in need...
the comfort of home...
fresh get well flowers...
Thank you family and friends for all the love, prayers and good luck charms for a successful second throat surgery....here's a bit of how it all went. I was scheduled for O.R. time at 11:30am but got a call on the way to the hospital at 9:00am saying 'they are ready for you in the OR right now...how far are you!?! Talk about pressure. Once there I went through all the paper work of 'actually signing your life away'=), blood pressure was pretty good and they took me back.
Docs seem to misjudge my anesthesia dosage...thinking it will take only a bit to 'knock me out.' After about 10 times of asking...Katie you still with us?...Yes...You should be feeling sleepy now?!?....No, not really....How you doing Katie?...Good! They finally gave me enough and I ended up sleeping ALL through recovery. They kept trying to wake me up but not gonna happen. Surgery ended at 12:00 and I woke up at 2:45! GOOD SLEEP.
Three laser cuts in my throat did the trick...I know gross, but it does amaze me that the Lord gifts these talented Docs with smarts and steady hands. Soooo thankful for Dr. Sok and that the earth stood still on Friday. Yep, I thought of that.... laser+throat+california earthquake =/ not a combo I want;). I am so thankful for my husband waiting for me the whole time, bringing me back home, making sure I have all my meds, and waking up to make sure I am breathing right in the night...he takes good care of me. Thanks family for chicken and dumplings, lemon pudding, vics vapor, and monkeys! I am still healing, sore throat and a bit scratchy but doing good. The doctor is hopeful in not having a third surgery for 3-4 more years, woo hoo!
I will end with the best of the simple things in life....the best medicine in the world....
LAUGHTER and MUSIC!
here is my second surgery song...Mayme and the girls never fail to send me off on a positive note.
Don't forget about the simple things in life....take a breath and enjoy!

So glad you are home and feeling ok. Surgery is never fun and I am stoked to hear that it will be a while before another one.
That is funny about the anesthesia, I bet it knocked your socks off:) Tell Amy she might be the next big You tube sensation:)
Love you guys!
