Finley's Nursery

Finley's nursery is something I have been meaning to post for awhile now. It has been a work in progress from when she was in my belly and continues to be a special place where we add little touches here and there to make it a place for her to sleep sound. The details of her room all have special meaning and I love that when everyone walks in it they seem to agree that it is such a peaceful place, (where they all wouldn't mind taking a nice nap;).
Auntie Maym' created these two beautiful pieces of art for us. The lungs/leaves are something that I find very special because she created this while I was having Finley and my throat surgery. I see the two leaves as baby girl and I, and I finally got to breathe again.

Auntie Maym' also got us this little lady bug knob. Finley was a little bug in my belly from day one.

I love to organize and her closet is a place for me to have fun. I love all her books and headbands I get to display.

Aunt Kelsie made our Finley name from the baby shower!

Oh HI feets!!!!!! We added this oh so soft rug when Finn was about 5 months and she loves to crawl on it and snuggle.

One of the first pieces that started the look of the room. David and I created art work from a dead white birch tree from our yard.

Where we rock and rock and rock. Tu-ra-lu-ra-lu-raaaaa. Tu-ra-lu-ra-lie.

More white birch art created by dada and mama

white rose bud beds

our snuggle time friends. Scottie dog is one of her favorites, who she calls "Doie".

A love for books. I have read books to Finley every night since she was born. We have so many favorites but we always end with "Goodnight Moon"....In the great green room there was a telephone and a red balloon and a picture of.... (I have this and many others memorized now, If I start saying the words she calms down, sweet babe).

Finley's first cradle (and mine too, finally ;) made by Grandpa Michael. Such a beautiful work of art!

There she is!!! My love. Finley loves her nursery. From when she was 4 months she loved to take naps in here and now she sleeps through the night in her crib. We just began sleep training but she is doing well with it and her room is so peaceful to rock her in. A place I know she is safe in. Each night our bedtime routine looks something like this:
7:00- 7:30 begin bath/shower
7:45 wrestle a little bear cub into her jammas
8:00 turn on her sound machine (ahhhh white noise)
8:05 read three stories, ending with "good night moon" and turning out the light
8:10 say our prayer. "good night mugz, good night blu, goodnight dad and goodnight you. goodnight mom and goodnight house. Thank you Lord for this day, thank you for our health and our blessings. Keep us safe and help us to sleep sound.
8:45 Finley is done feeding and I say....Mama will cuddle you in the morning. I love you my bug. Thank you for this beautiful gift lord. Help me to lay her down gently, give me strength to teach her to soothe herself to sleep and help me to use my ninja skills to quietly exit the nursery".
I wouldn't have it any other way.

Finn.
